4 Things 2 Watch:

1) Cook’s Usage

With the Florida game next week and Cook still not being at 100%, don’t expect to see too much of him. At most he should rush the ball 15 times, but even that’s a stretch. If Florida State gets a comfortable lead going in to halftime, Cook might rest for the entire second half.

2) Black Uniforms

The black uniforms are awesome, and wearing them against Chattanooga has bigger implications behind it. Recruits have always preferred the black uniform, and FSU finally wearing them brings optimism that the recruits might one day wear them. If Florida State starts the game more excited and focused, the uniforms might be used next time on a bigger opponent. Coach Jimbo Fisher hates distractions, but if the black uniforms prove to be a motivator, they might wear them more often.

3) The Young Guns on O

Jacques Patrick has been the only freshman skill player to get real significant play time this year. Nyqwan Murray and George Campbell have been waiting to burst onto the scene. Both are electric play-makers and have been playing well at practice. Murray has terrific hands, and Campbell is fantastic in the open field (i.e. spring game touchdown catch). Chattanooga is a great opportunity for these guys to show out and maybe add a weapon to the ‘Noles’ receiving core.

4) Golson’s Play Style

Everett Golson will be playing his final game in Doak Campbell Stadium in his first year at Florida State. This year has not quite gone the way he would have liked, and his old habits of carelessness with protecting the football really showed against NC State. FSU should have comfortable enough lead to play Golson in garbage time, and it will be interesting to see how Golson plays. Will it be the efficient, take what the defense gives you Golson, or the careless, over-aggressive Golson? Something to look for when the game loses interest.

Forecast:

All roads lead to Gainesville. This game is essentially a tune-up for next weeks clash with the Gators, and one the Seminoles should handle rather easily. Chattanooga might play well early, but they don’t have the talent or depth to compete with the ‘Noles for four quarters. Florida State 37, Chattanooga 14 is this week’s prediction. Make sure to check out next week’s preview as Florida State travels south to take on their in-state rival, the Florida Gators. Enjoy the game Saturday, and make sure to thank the seniors.
