Sansone and the Seminoles Continue to Surprise this Season

The Florida State Seminoles continued their dream season and upshot up the national polls after the took two of three from the Louisville Cardinals over the weekend. After starting the season in the lower 20’s to not ranked at all, Florida State has become a consensus top 10 team across the entire country.

Florida State has climbed to number 6 in the Perfect Game and Baseball America polls, number 5 in terms of RPI across college baseball and the NCBWA poll, and even as high as number 4 in the D1Baseball poll.

Florida State has relied heavily on its offense this season, as they are averaging a fairly impressive 8.4 runs per game. They are led by their senior third baseman John Sansone, who has been turning in a remarkably impressive season thus far. Sansone leads the team in batting average (.392), hits (47), RBI (41), total bases (70), and OBP (.483) and earned ACC Player of the Week honors last week for his efforts against Texas Tech and Louisville.

It will be interesting to see where Florida State goes from here but they have set themselves up nicely heading into the last leg of the season. The Seminoles are in good position to secure a national seed if they can continue their winning ways throughout the rest of the season. A win against Florida on Tuesday would go a long way, but it will likely come down to their final series against Miami.

Florida State hosts Florida in Tallahassee on 4/12. First pitch 6PM.
