FSU in the NFL: Week One

The 2016 NFL season is officially underway, meaning a whole bunch of former Florida State players are suiting up for their professional teams. From the return of Kelvin Benjamin in Carolina to Jameis Winston’s amazing performance for Tampa Bay, several former Florida State players put on a show during the first weekend of pro football.

Here is how all former Florida State players performed in week one.

Atlanta Falcons (24-31 loss to Tampa Bay)

Devonta Freeman, RB: Started at running back. Rushed 11 times for 20 yards and caught four passes for 20 yards.

Baltimore Ravens (13-7 win over Buffalo)

Timmy Jernigan, DT: Started at defensive tackle. Recorded two tackles and one sack.

Buffalo Bills (7-13 loss to Baltimore)

Ronald Darby, CB: Started at cornerback. Recorded seven tackles (led the team) and two pass deflections.

EJ Manuel, QB: Did not play.

Nick O’Leary, TE: Played on special teams. Recorded one return for 13 yards.

Garrison Sanborn, LS: Handled long snapping duties.

Carolina Panthers (20-21 loss to Denver)

Kelvin Benjamin, WR: Returned to action after missing the entire 2015 season due to a torn ACL. Caught six passes for 91 yards and one touchdown.

Graham Gano, K: 2/3 FG, 2/2 XP

Chicago Bears (14-23 loss to Houston)

Eddie Goldman, DT: Recorded 2 tackles, 2 assists, and 0.5 sacks.

Christian Jones, LB: Played, but did not record any stats.

Cleveland Browns (10-29 loss to Philadelphia)

Cameron Erving, OL: Started at center.

Nile Lawrence-Stample, DT: Currently on injured reserve.

Denver Broncos (21-20 win over Carolina)

Dekoda Watson, LB: Played, but did not record any stats.

Detroit Lions (39-35 win over Indianapolis)

Anquon Boldin, WR: Started at wide receiver. Caught three passes for 35 yards.

Green Bay Packers (27-23 win over Jacksonville)

Letroy Guion, DT: Started at defensive tackle. Recorded two tackles.

Indianapolis Colts (35-39 loss to Detroit)

Antonio Cromartie, CB: Started at cornerback. Recorded two tackles and one pass deflection.

Patrick Robinson, CB: Started at cornerback. Recorded four tackles, 1 assist and one pass deflection. Left the game early with concussion-like symptoms.

Jacksonville Jaguars (23-27 loss to Green Bay)

Rashad Greene, WR: Caught one pass for nine yards.

Jalen Ramsey, CB: Made his first career start at cornerback. Recorded two tackles and one assist.

Telvin Smith, LB: Started at linebacker. Recorded six tackles and two assists.

Los Angeles Rams (0-28 loss to San Francisco)

Lamarcus Joyner, CB: Started at cornerback. Recorded six tackles and one assist.

Minnesota Vikings (25-16 win over Tennessee)

Xavier Rhodes, CB: Did not play. Currently out with a knee injury.

New England Patriots (23-21 win over Arizona)

Tre’ Jackson, OL: Currently on injured reserve.

New Orleans Saints (34-35 loss to Oakland)

P.J. Williams, CB: Made his first career start at cornerback. Recorded three tackles, two assists and one pass deflection.

New York Giants (20-19 win over Dallas)

Bobby Hart, OL: Did not play.

Oakland Raiders (35-34 win over New Orleans)

Mario Edwards Jr., DL: Currently on injured reserve.

Rodney Hudson, OL: Started at center.

Sebastian Janikowski, K: 2/2 FG, 1/1 XP

Menelik Watson, OL: Started at right tackle. Left the game early with a groin injury.

Philadelphia Eagles (29-10 win over Cleveland)

Nigel Bradham, LB: Started at linebacker. Recorded four tackles and one assist.

Terrence Brooks, S: Did not play.

Pittsburgh Steelers (38-16 win over Washington)

Lawrence Timmons, LB: Started at linebacker. Recorded four tackles, four assists and one pass deflection.

Vince Williams, LB: Played on special teams.

San Francisco 49ers (28-0 win over Los Angeles)

Tank Carradine, DL: Recorded one tackle.

Christian Ponder, QB: Did not play.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (31-24 win over Atlanta)

Roberto Aguayo, K: 1/1 FG, 4/4 XP

Jameis Winston, QB: Started at quarterback. Completed 23/33 passes for 281 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. Recorded a 122.6 quarterback rating. Also had three rushing yards.

Washington Redskins (16-38 loss to Pittsburgh)

Dustin Hopkins, K: 3/3 FG, 1/1 XP

Chris Thompson, RB: Rushed four times for 23 yards and one touchdowns. Also caught two passes for 16 yards.
