FSU Lands Nation’s Top DT

FSU has landed what will probably be its last, but arguably most important, commit of National Signing Day. Just moments ago five-star defensive tackle Marvin Wilson chose FSU over LSU, Ohio State, and Oklahoma on national television. Wilson is ranked as the top defensive tackle recruit in the nation and the sixth best player in the nation by the 247 Composite.

When you flip on Wilson’s film it becomes immediately clear that Wilson is a special defensive tackle. He exhibits athleticism and burst off the line that is atypical for a human being of his size (6-4 330). Elite interior defensive lineman are hard to come by in college football, due largely in part to such a small percentage of the population having the combination of elite size and speed that is required. FSU just landed one of them. Wilson is the highest ranked defensive tackle that FSU has signed since Jacobbi McDaniel in 2009 who was the top rated DT in the country but the 5th ranked prospect overall.

FSU had to run a perfect recruitment to pull an elite DT all the way across SEC country from Texas to Tallahassee and they did just that. Tim Brewster and Odell Haggins put in work on the trail and landed the nation’s best defensive tackle as a perfect cap to another top five recruiting class for the ‘Noles.
