Interview with Hamsah Nasirildeen

The Florida State Seminoles are nearing the completion of their spring practices. The Noles have been bolstered by seven early enrollees, but the majority of their 2017 signing class will report to campus later this summer. In total, FSU signed 23 players and finished with the number five class in the country.

NoleGameday recently got a chance to speak with Florida State signee Hamsah Nasirildeen. The 6’4” 210 lb. safety hails from Concord, NC. The 247 Composite rankings slot him as a four star recruit and the #111 prospect in the nation.

The top prospect in North Carolina will join the Seminoles later this summer as he begins his college career. Check out the interview below!

NoleGameday: First off, how’s the offseason going? What kind of things are you working on improving before arriving at FSU?

Hamsah Nasirildeen:  “My offseason is going great, I’m finishing up classes. I’m just working on a lot of technique, my fundamentals, all the stuff they’re sending me. Before I was just really working on gameplans and stuff for high school. Now, I’m trying to improve my football skills.”

NoleGameday: You enroll later in the summer and will be with the team in the fall, how excited are you to get your college career started?

Hamsah Nasirildeen: “I’m excited about it, just waiting for the time to come so I can see what it’s [college] like.”

NoleGameday: Who was the most influential Coach in your recruitment?

Hamsah Nasirildeen: “Coach Graham. The school sold itself really but he (coach Graham) was always there. He didn’t ever pressure me about anything but he was just trying to help me out with the whole process.”

NoleGameday: What about players? Did any of the other signees have a factor in you committing to Florida State?

Hamsah Nasirildeen: “It’s not really a factor but knowing guys and having relationships is cool. When I get there I’ll know some familiar faces and it’s not just a room full of guys that I have to compete with. It makes the process easier.”

NoleGameday: You originally committed to South Carolina before flipping to FSU, can you just talk about that process?

Hamsah Nasirildeen: “I was just trying to think about what place was going to be the best school for me. I was just trying to find the best one so I just went through the process and got the best out of it.”

NoleGameday: “Have you had a chance to sell Florida State to any recruits in the 2018 class?”

Hamsah Nasirildeen: I’m just talking to a couple North Carolina guys I play basketball with. I try to recruit but I don’t try to pressure anyone. I remember how hard my recruiting was and it would be even worse if I had my friends pressuring me, trying to tell me what to do.

NoleGameday: “What are your expectations for your freshman season? “

Hamsah Nasirildeen: “Just hopes, I want to come in and develop and learn the schemes and all the things we do at Florida State. I just want to hit someone hard. Learn all the schemes and hit someone.”

NoleGameday: Do you model your game after anyone?

Hamsah Nasirildeen: “I don’t really model my game after anyone but I like watching Sean Taylor, Kam Chancellor, Karl Joseph and Derwin, his highlights are pretty good.”

NoleGameday: What is your end goal? The NFL?

Hamsah Nasirildeen: “If it all works out perfect, that’s the plan.”
