Week 5 Bold Prediction: Cam Akers runs for 150 yards and 2 scores

Logan Stanford

Call it hope.  Call it a gut feeling.  Call it stupidity.  But whatever you call it, be careful, because you might end up looking silly come Saturday afternoon.  This week, against Wake Forest, is the week that FSU’s best offensive player breaks out.  The freshman running back has certainly shown flashes in losses to Alabama and NC State.  But he has yet to truly hit his stride.  Personally, I don’t blame Akers or the o-line for the running back struggles in the first two games.  Truth be told, Alabama and NC State will be shutting down great running games all year.

To qualify this as a bold prediction, Cam Akers only has 85 yards through 2 games on a 3.9 yard per carry average. Also, he is splitting carries with junior Jacques Patrick, which likely won’t allow him to get 25+ carries.

Still, I believe Akers is the best player on FSU’s offense and that will show on Saturday, when he rushes for 150 yards and 2 scores.
