Game Preview: Florida State vs Boston College

On the Friday night before Halloween, the ‘Noles travel north to face the Eagles of Boston College in the annual Friday night showdown. Florida State is 2-4 and fighting for bowl eligibility after losing last week to Louisville. Meanwhile, Boston College is 4-4 in an up and down season for the Eagles. They have won two in a row on the road, and are looking to make it three as they return home. Boston College has found its star on offense in running back AJ Dillon. He is a tough, physical runner and could give an effort-lacking Florida State defense fits. His backups, Jon Hilliman and Thad Smith, are more than serviceable when Dillon needs a break. The Eagle’s passing game has been mediocre and the ‘Noles must force obvious passing situations. I think the defense will force a few turnovers on Friday night, and really put pressure on quarterback Anthony Brown. If you like points, do not watch this game. Florida State’s offense has struggled all year, and they will continue to keep the scoreboard dim on Friday. With Jacques Patrick out, expect it to be the Cam Akers show in the backfield. We could see a little bit of Amir Rasul as well, and if we’re lucky Khalan Laborn will get his first career carry. I expect this to be a slow-paced, defensive slugfest. Whichever team makes the most mental mistakes will lose this game. I think the ‘Noles will be refocused for this game after a tough loss at home to Louisville, and come out on top 20-17.  Friday night is also Boston College’s annual Red Bandanna night, and if you don’t know the story behind it do yourself a favor and look it up. Should be a great game on a spooky Friday night.
