2018 National Signing Day Predictions

One of the biggest dates we’ve been waiting for since Willie Taggart’s arrival is right around the corner. On Wednesday, February 7, National Signing Day will officially commence.

Florida State has seen a huge leap in their class since Taggart and Co. went to work. The Seminoles currently sit with 16 commitments which is good for the No. 15 class in the country according to the 247 Sports Composite rankings. This includes a whopping 11 four-star prospects.

After already landing eight recruits in less than two months, FSU is still in the running for seven other players who will make their decisions on signing days. Here’s who our staff has predicted to the `Noles.

– James Foster, 4* QB, Montgomery, AL

Foster has committed to Texas A&M

Dustin Lewis: Florida State. The relationship between the Seminoles staff and Foster wins out. Alabama could’ve had him, but they didn’t commit as much time to Foster as they should’ve.

Ethan Vaughn: FSU. The `Noles seem to have the strongest relationship with Foster and his family. I think Bama might try and make a late pitch to him after missing out on Purdy, who might be headed to College Station, and Foster did grow up a Bama fan but I think the chance for PT during his career is far greater at FSU. That wins out

Logan Robinson: FSU.

Ryan Stalder: Florida State.

Haylee Blitch: Florida State.

– Anthony Grant, 4* RB, Buford, GA – Committed to Tennessee

Grant has committed to Florida State.

Dustin Lewis: Tennessee. I think this one ends up really close between Tennessee, UNC, and FSU. In the end, I think Grant sticks with his pledge to the Vols. The `Noles simply haven’t recruited him for long enough to land him.

Ethan Vaughn: Tennessee. Grant opts to join Jeremy Pruitt in Knoxville. FSU’s backfield is a logjam of elite players right and that works against them here. It’s a good problem to have, though.

Logan Robinson: Tennessee.

Ryan Stalder: Tennessee.

Haylee Blitch: Tennessee.

– Tre’Shaun Harrison, 4* WR, Seattle, WA

Harrison has committed to Florida State.

Dustin Lewis: Florida State. No doubt that Oregon would’ve won this battle if he was their coach instead of FSU’s. But he’s not. The biggest factor for Harrison in his recruitment is relationships. He really trusts Taggart, as does his mom and high school coach. That’s the difference.

Ethan Vaughn: FSU. Taggart and staff are able to parlay the relationship they had with Harrison while at Oregon into a commitment from him at FSU. Harrison seems to trust and believe in Taggart and company, that closes this one out.

Logan Robinson: FSU

Ryan Stalder: Florida State.

Haylee Blitch: FSU.

– Jordan Young, 3* WR, Conyers, GA – Committed to Tennessee

Dustin Lewis: Florida State. Despite his status as a late-rising prospect, I don’t think Young was afraid to give the `Noles a real shot here. Once he got to Tallahassee, Taggart did the rest. He could wind up being a real sleeper.

Ethan Vaughn: FSU. Arguably the second most important get for Taggart since arriving at FSU, Young will opt to join the movement in Tallahassee as he sees the opportunity for early PT in a thin WR Corp for FSU.

Logan Robinson: FSU.

Ryan Stalder: FSU.

Haylee Blitch: Florida State.

– Malcolm Lamar, 4* DE, Seffner, FL

Lamar has committed to Florida State.

Dustin Lewis: Florida State. Once again, the relationship factor wins out. Lamar grew up a UF fan and wasn’t offered by the previous staff. But once Taggart took over, it was going to take something big to sway him from the Seminoles.

Ethan Vaughn: Florida State. Again, Taggart will capitalize on an Oregon relationship to land Armwood DE Malcolm Lamar. UF has made a strong push but Lamar’s relationship with FSU’s staff is too strong to say no.

Logan Robinson: FSU.

Ryan Stalder: Florida State.

Haylee Blitch: Florida State.

– Jamarcus Chatman, 3* DE, Rome, GA

Chatman has committed to Florida State.

Dustin Lewis: Miami. In the end, the Hurricanes lack of depth, while Florida State’s addition of Dennis Briggs and Malcolm Lamar make this a win for Miami. Chatman is a good player who could grow into a good player.

Ethan Vaughn: Miami. This one could truly go either way. That being said Miami has been involved in his recruitment for a while and has lots of PT to offer early on the DL.

Logan Robinson: FSU.

Ryan Stalder: Miami.

Haylee Blitch: Miami.

– James Miller, 3* LB, Seffner, FL

Miller has committed to Indiana.

Dustin Lewis: Florida State. Miller was offered late but he grew up an FSU fan and that makes the biggest difference. If he can qualify to FSU then he has a chance to be a great player.

Ethan Vaughn: FSU. Miller will commit to FSU. He knows FSU’s staff and they’re by far the biggest school after him right now and they have PT to offer at LB. The real question with Miller is if he is able to keep his grades straight and qualify.

Logan Robinson: FSU.

Ryan Stalder: Florida State.

Haylee Blitch: FSU.
