Commitment Impact: What Ryan Fitzgerald is bringing to FSU

Ever since the infamous days of wide rights and wide lefts it seems that the FSU program has made having an ace kicker a top priority. Every FSU team since has had a consistently good kicker, from Scott Bentley to Graham Gano and even recently with the Aguayo brothers. Seeing as Ricky Aguayo is graduating after next season the coaching staff has seen fit to add a placekicker to this recruiting class to supplant Ricky in 2020. I believe they found the perfect one in Ryan Fitzgerald.

The Georgia product has had a tremendous kicking career in high school and was honored by Sail Kicking as the best placekicker in his class.  Fitzgerald has a knack for touchbacks and long field goals which are rare for his age. He led the country in touchbacks with 94 and also made six kicks of over 50 yards in his senior year alone. That to pair with his long list of 1st Team appearances and it seems like the perfect fit.

To add to all of this Ryan Fitzgerald actually grew up watching FSU and is a huge Nole fan in his own right. The FSU special teams room just got better today and the future once again looks bright at the position.

UPDATE 1/29: Fitzgerald had some time to give NoleGameday a few comments following his commitment.

“To be able to play at FSU is unbelievable,” Fitzgerald said. “I’ve grown up watching FSU and their great kickers and I’m excited to get to work and help the team in any way I can.”

“Personal goals for me is to get stronger, more accurate, and more consistent,” the talented kicker said. “I want to help the team in any way I can. I know I can get some guys to join us Tribe19.”
