Over the past few weeks, it seems as if the true character of this Florida State Football team has started to reveal itself after back to back detrimental losses to both Clemson and NC-State. With Deondre Francois missing last weeks game versus NC-State due to a questionable head injury and James Blackman’s stellar 421-yard performance with a 4 to 1 touchdown to interception ratio, a little controversy has to started to arise over the quarterback situation.

The past four days have been well, quite interesting as you could say. Francois’ rather rogue and controversial comments claiming that he’s still the number one guy has sparked some debate across the Seminole community about the emerging quarterback battle. While on the other hand James Blackman’s leadership goes unquestioned and has seemed to have bought over ‘Nole community as well as his teammates after his impressive debut against the Wolfpack.

However, Taggart has yet to name a starter for this weeks showdown in South Bend and both quarterbacks have been splitting first-team reps during walkthroughs this week at practice. Nevertheless, Wide Receiver/Punt Returner DJ Mathews put out a tweet early Thursday morning which seems to throw some shade as he adds to the theory that this team’s cohesion is still in shambles.

Could one of Florida State’s most pivotal playmakers, who’s also James Blackman’s roommate, possibly be hinting at a decision to come after publicly acknowledging the leadership issues amongst the team? Nothing for certain can be taken from this and it must be taken with a grain of salt.

Nonetheless, it seems as if the leadership issues that plagued Deondre Francois’ offseason have once again started to appear at a time in which this baffled Florida State team would need it the most as they travel north to take on the #3 ranked Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.
