Four-star linebacker considering transfer from FSU

Well, this offseason continues to bring surprises. Both good and bad. Per Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio, Florida State true freshman defensive end Xavier Peters has entered his name into the transfer portal.

Jones goes on to say that if Peters does decide to leave Tallahassee, Kentucky and two unnamed Big 10 schools would be at the top of his list with the Wildcats being the favorite. FSU beat out Kentucky for the former four-star prospects signature late in the 2018 recruiting cycle.

The Ohio native redshirted during his first season at Florida State though he was expected to break into the rotation in 2019. With Brian Burns moving onto the NFL, this could end up being a big blow to the Seminoles depth at defensive end. Willie Taggart and his staff currently have two defensive ends committed in the 2019 class and they are likely looking to add one to two more before all is said and done.

Peters would become the first of the currents staff’s recruits to transfer. He was ranked as the No. 174 overall prospect and No. 12 OLB in the 2018 class per the 247 Sports Composite rankings.

NoleGameday will continue to update Peters’ status as developments come in.
