FSU Flips Four Star Miami Pledge

Four star 2016 Running Back Amir Rasul (5-10 200) has flipped his verbal commitment from Miami to FSU.  Rasul, who is rated as the 7th best RB in the nation by the 247 Industry Composite Rankings, has been the ‘Noles top target at RB for a large part of the 2016 recruiting cycle. Tight ends coach and recruiting ace Tim Brewster has been spearheading Rasul’s recruitment personally and his efforts payed off today. Now onto an important question… What skills will Rasul bring to Tallahassee?

Film Review: On the track Rasul has clocked times as low as 10.44 in the 100 meter sprint. In comparison, Jalen Ramsey ran a 10.61 100 meter dash as part of FSU’s ACC Champion 4×100 Relay Team in 2015. Rasul’s speed is evident in the way he runs the football. Rasul is roughly the same size as star FSU RB Dalvin Cook, however, their playing styles are very different. Where Cook thrives running between the tackles, using his elite cutting abilities to find holes, Rasul prefers to attack defenses on the outside. Whenever Rasul is presented the opportunity he works his way outside the tackles and uses his speed to beat the defense to the end zone. Rasul could be characterized as a home run hitter at RB, similar to former Nole RB Chris Thompson who threatened to break off a long run every time he touched the football. All in all, FSU is getting a back who has the potential to pick up yardage in big chunks using his elite speed. Rasul should prove to be an excellent change of pace back to Jacques Patrick, Dalvin Cook, and Jay Vickers in the future.
