FSU wins first softball title after remarkable run

No one expected the Florida State Softball team to win their first national championship in program history after their first game at the WCWS on Thursday. The Seminoles led UCLA 4-0 before letting the lead slip away and falling 7-4. That pushed FSU into the losers bracket and one loss away from having their season upended.

Instead, the `Noles responded against adversity like they’d done all season. FSU defeated Georgia and Oregon to set-up a rematch with the Bruins, who were coming out of the winner’s bracket.

Florida State’s run became even more improbable when they upset UCLA twice to reach the finals. Those wins would become the fourth consecutive victories for this squad in two days.

But there wasn’t much time to celebrate the first national championship appearance in program history. The Seminoles were back in action the following night against one of the best teams in the country, Washington.

Once again, FSU played comfortably in the underdog role. They defeated the Huskies 1-0 on Monday night before an offensive explosion brought them an 8-3 decision on Tuesday for the `Noles to win the tournament. Check out the moment below.
