Howell Watch: Week Three

Florida State will have to travel around Hurricane Florence to reach Syracuse for its game on Saturday. Games have already been rescheduled, postponed, and canceled across the North and South Carolina regions to keep the roads as sparse as possible, which is really just a brilliant decision by the schools.

However, one of the Seminoles highest-ranked commits, four-star quarterback Sam Howell, had his game moved up to Wednesday due to the imminent hurricane.

Despite adhering to a less than normal schedule, Howell was on his game Wednesday night. And he had some FSU swag to boot.

Whether it was the cleats or just his talent, Howell lit up Olympic High School. The 6-foot-1, 225-pound quarterback finished with 195 passing yards and three scores while adding 58 yards and two more touchdowns on the ground in a 40-6 win.

Howell tied the game with an 80-yard touchdown pass and his team never looked back from there. After throwing a 40-yard pass for a score in the second quarter, Howell used his legs to find paydirt next, scoring from five-yards out to increase Sun Valley High School’s lead to 20-6.

Howell found the end zone twice more on the ground in the third quarter and capped things off with a touchdown pass in the final frame to sink Olympic, 40-6.

The four-star quarterback is garnering notice by the week and he could be a candidate for a big leap in the rankings following his senior season. Howell is currently rated as the No. 82 overall prospect and the No. 3 pro-style quarterback in the 2019 class.
