Report: Calvin Brewton no longer with FSU

At this point in the season, Florida State can’t afford to lose players to injury or other means, especially with how its opened 2018. Wayne McGahee of the Tallahassee Democrat reported earlier Thursday that senior safety Calvin Brewton had left the FSU football program.

Brewton finishes his career in Tallahassee with six total tackles after spending much of his three seasons contributing on special teams. The 6-foot-0, 189-pound safety saw playing time in the Seminoles first two games against Virginia Tech and Samford. However, he didn’t see the field in the blowout loss to Syracuse.

After Cyrus Fagan suffered an injury in practice this week, Brewton’s departure could leave Florida State’s cupboard bare at safety. As of now, FSU projects to just have three healthy safeties against Northern Illinois.

The former Miami Central star signed with the `Noles during the 2015 recruiting cycle, earning a four-star ranking as a high school prospect.
