Did Showtime accidentally reveal something huge?

This season, Showtime’s “A Season With…” has been chronicling the tale of the 2016 Florida State team. Tuesday’s episode, the 12th in the series, focused on the week leading up to the game versus the Florida Gators.

One of their segments in the episode focused on Thanksgiving dinner for the football team. Because the players cannot travel home for the holiday, the individual position coaches host a dinner for the players in their position group. For example, Odell Haggins hosts all the defensive tackles and Rick Trickett hosts the offensive linemen.

But did Showtime accidentally reveal something huge during this segment?

There was a brief period where they focused on the quarterback dinner, hosted by offensive coordinator Randy Sanders. Sean Maguire makes an appearance, talking about how much he liked the hash brown casserole. Deondre Francois, J.J. Cosentino and even Jake Rizzo all make an appearance as well.

But where is Malik Henry?

As you can see in the screenshot below, Henry is somehow absent from the long shot of the quarterback dinner table.

Deondre Francois, Sean Maguire, J.J. Cosentino and Jake Rizzo are all pictured at the dinner table.

Perhaps he is conveniently off-screen for this shot, but this does not help ease the concern that many people have had about Henry’s future at Florida State. The five-star recruit was suspended at the beginning of the season for an unspecified reason and returned to the team midway through the season. But after rejoining the team for the second half, he has been noticeably absent ever since their trip to Raleigh to face North Carolina State.

While Henry was unlikely to play in 2016 anyways, his absence from the team is notable and concerning for the future of their quarterback depth chart. Florida State has Francois (redshirt freshman) returning next year as a sophomore, but Maguire (redshirt senior) will graduate and Cosentino (redshirt sophomore) has not done much of anything on-the-field during his time here. The Seminoles currently have two quarterback commits for the 2017 class in Bailey Hockman (Powder Springs, GA) and James Blackman (Belle Glade, FL).
