Tate, Benjamin deliver spectacular preseason touchdowns

Florida State hasn’t had a receiver show out in the NFL in years. That could change soon with the amount of talent the Seminoles have produced recently at wide receiver.

Kelvin Benjamin has been oft-injured during his first three seasons in the league but he’s hoping to turn his career around after a trade to the Buffalo Bills. Benjamin caught some heat earlier this week when he criticized Cam Newton following being traded away from Carolina.

The fourth-year player then got into a confrontation with Newton prior to the two’s teams meeting in week one of the preseason. Benjamin made sure his voice was heard early in his first game against the Panthers. He looks like he’s enjoying himself again.

Benjamin finished with four catches on four targets for 59 yards and score in his preseason debut. Though Newton had the last laugh this time, with Carolina winning 28-23.

Rookie receiver Auden Tate has been impressive during Cincinnati’s training camp thus far. He’s had a lot of eyes on him while making plays. Tate has been working to prove he was worth more than the Seventh-Round flyer the Bengals took on him in the 2018 draft.

He got a chance to do just that on Thursday night. Tate caught just one pass for Cincinnati in his first NFL game but it was a big one. With just over two minutes to play and the Bengals down 27-23, Jeff Driskel escaped pressure before launching a ball towards the end zone. Tate was able to outreach his man and come down with it for his first professional touchdown. If he keeps this up, Tate will have a great chance to earn a spot on Cincinnati’s roster.
