2019 Undrafted free agent tracker

With the 2019 NFL Draft behind us after two former Florida State Seminoles were selected by NFL teams, the acquisition of rookie players isn’t over, not by a long shot. Now, teams will compete with each other for the rights to the players that weren’t drafted. Typically, NFL clubs try to entice these undrafted prospects with generous signing bonuses and other incentives.

All but two of the 11 former ‘Noles who were vying to be drafted are still looking for teams, we’ll be tracking their movements in this post as they fight to keep their professional dreams afloat.

Nyqwan Murray

Position: Wide Reciever

Measurables: 5-foot-10, 191 pounds

College stats: 127 catches, 1854 yards, 12 touchdowns

Combine results: 4.63-second 40-yard dash, 34-inch vertical jump, 113-inch broad jump, 7.2-second three-cone drill, 4.4-second 20-yard shuttle, 8 bench press reps

Scout’s outlook: “Skilled slot receiver with good quickness and sure hands. Murray’s urgency and attention to detail with his routes can waver, but he has the tools to tighten that area up. Inconsistent quarterback play impaired his overall production in the last two seasons. He has the talent to become a diverse slot target with the ability to expand the route tree with a more accurate signal-caller throwing him the ball.” – Lance Zierlein, NFL.com

NFL Comparison: Jamison Crowder

Draft projection: Seventh Round-Priority Free Agent

Nyqwan Murray is heading to Seattle to catch passes from Russell Wilson. He joins former teammate Demarcus Christmas, who was selected by the Seahawks in the sixth-round.

Alec Eberle

Position: Center

Measurables: 6-foot-4, 300 pounds

College stats: 50 appearances, 44 straight starts

Combine results: DNP

Scout’s outlook: “Eberle was a terrific center at the college level but has size and strength limitations that hamper his chances at the next level.” – Draftanalyst.com

Draft projection: Sixth Round-Priority Free Agent

A source close to Alec Eberle has informed NoleGameday that the former Florida State offensive lineman will try out for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Eberle had multiple tryout offers from NFL teams but decided to take up Tampa Bay on its offer. He finished his career in Tallahassee with 44 straight starts and now will try to latch on with the Bucs, who surrendered 41 sacks with shaky offensive line play in 2018.

Jacques Patrick

Position: Running Back

Measurables: 6-foot-3, 231 pounds

College stats: 366 attempts, 1790 yards, 17 touchdowns

Combine results: DNP

Scout’s outlook: “A physical downhill runner, Patrick sees the field cleanly and knows how to work off his blocks. He excels in one cut situations and runs with good pace and timing. A decisive runner, Patrick attacks gaps as the open and rarely yields a negative play.” – Joe Marino, thedraftnetwork.com

Draft projection: Seventh Round-Priority Free Agent

It took awhile, but Jacques Patrick has finally found an NFL home. He will try out for the Cleveland Browns. The Browns already have a ton of talented backs such as Nick Chubb, Duke Johnson, and Kareem Hunt, so it’ll be an uphill battle for Patrick to wind up on their roster.

UPDATE 5/11:

Patrick will have his second try out with an AFC team in the Tennessee Titans. The Titans have some capable backs on their roster like Derrick Henry, whose running style is similar to Patrick, Dion Lewis, and Jeremy McNichols. Patrick will need to be at his best if he wants to earn an invite to training camp.

A.J. Westbrook

Position: Defensive Back

Measurables: 6-foot-0, 190 pounds

College stats: 147 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, 2 interceptions, 15 pass deflections

Combine results: DNP

Scout’s outlook: N/A

Draft projection: Priority Free Agent

After working out for the Jacksonville Jaguars a few weeks ago, AJ Westbrook will get his shot at a roster spot with the Atlanta Falcons. He joins Devonta Freeman in Atlanta.

Derrick Kelly

Position: Offensive Tackle

Measurables: 6-foot-5, 320 pounds

College stats: 34 appearances, 28 starts

Combine results: DNP

Scout’s outlook: N/A

Draft projection: Undrafted

Offensive tackle Derrick Kelly is signing with New Orleans as an UDFA. The Saints drafted Rick Leonard a season ago, though he’s no longer on their roster.

John Vickers

Position: Tight End

Measurables: 6-foot-1, 241 pounds

College stats: 29 rushes, 158 yards, one touchdown, 1 catch, 9 yards, 1 touchdown

Combine results: DNP

Scout’s outlook: N/A

Draft projection: Undrafted

Arthur Williams

Position: Offensive Guard

Measurables: 6-foot-4, 320 pounds

College stats: 12 appearances, 5 starts

Combine results: DNP

Scout’s outlook: N/A

Draft projection: Undrafted

Fredrick Jones

Position: Nose Tackle

Measurables: 6-foot-2, 304 pounds

College stats: 67 total tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks

Combine results: DNP

Scout’s outlook: N/A

Draft projection: Undrafted

Fredrick Jones will get a shot in New Jersey with the Jets.

Walvenski Aime

Position: Defensive End

Measurables: 6-foot-5, 270 pounds

College stats: 50 tackles, 3 tackles for loss

Combine results: DNP

Scout’s outlook: N/A

Draft projection: Undrafted

Defensive end Wally Aime becomes the third former ‘Nole to wind up in Seattle. Nyqwan Murray signed an UDFA earlier this evening and Demarcus Christmas was selected in the sixth round this afternoon.
