Alabama Safety Kylon Griffin Earns FSU Offer

Florida State has been hitting the 2022 recruiting class hard, sending offers and contacting recruits from all over the nation. Montgomery, AL safety Kylon Griffin received an offer from the Seminoles a few weeks ago, joining around fifteen programs that have reached out lately. We caught up with Kylon to talk about his recruitment and to talk about his interest in FSU.

6’1”, 180 pound safety Kylon Griffin isn’t ranked on the 247composite yet, but his growing offer sheet shows that he’ll be a heavily recruited defensive back for 2022. Florida State offered Griffin in mid-September, and as Griffin explains the process with the Seminole coaching staff started rather quickly.

“I hadn’t heard much from them, but the coaches started following me on social media and it started then,” explained Griffin. “Coach Woodson told me they like the versatility I show on film and that I have been progressing as a player. I’ve been watching FSU since Jimbo was there. I am very interested in them and I have been for quite some time. There’s just something about them that I like.”

Kylon says that once September 1st hit 14 schools started contacting him, and that right now he has 9 offers.

“I heard from a few coaches, like 14 reached out,” Griffin said of the contact period opening for 2022 recruits. “I have 9 offers right now. FSU, Bethune-Cookman, Michigan State, Kansas, Indiana, Iowa, Houston, Troy and Akron are the offers I have. These schools like me as a defensive back. I flip back and forth between safety and corner depending on who we play, and I also do returns.”

Griffin’s team is midway through its season. He says that a lot of teams are staying away from him, but he’s still able to flash what has caught the college coach’s attention.

“We’re at midseason right now,” Griffin said. “It is going good. Teams are staying away from me and not targeting me too much. I’ve been able to show that I can hit, as well as come into the box. I love playing football and I love having fun. I just want to do my job and do what the coaches ask of me.”

Griffin did say that there are some schools that have piqued his interest early on in his recruiting process.

“FSU, they’re definitely up there, LSU, Kentucky, Tennessee and Iowa are schools I am interested in right now,” said Griffin. “I grew up watching LSU and FSU so they stand out right now.”

Kylon plans to run the 100 and 4×100 in track this spring. Stay tuned as we continue to track his recruitment and the rest of his junior season.
