BREAKING: FSU Lands 2023 DE Lamont Green Jr
- Updated: February 19, 2021
A banner week for Florida State football continued this morning when legacy recruit, and top 2023 defensive end, Lamont Green Jr committed to FSU.
When Florida State offered Lamont Green Jr. last year they immediately became the favorite to land his eventual commitment. The son of former All-ACC linebacker Lamont Green has long been a Seminole fan, so it seemed only a matter of time when the Noles would land the elite pass rusher.
News broke this morning right before 9 a.m. that Green had gone ahead and committed to the Seminoles. After yet another delay by the NCAA on recruiting visits, it looks like Green Jr didn’t want to wait any longer.
We caught news of the commitment when Lamont Sr. told us that he had committed and was on the phone with Coach Norvell to talk about the decision.
Make no bones about it – while the Miami – Gulliver standout is a legacy, he was going to be one of the most heavily recruited players in the 2023 class. With his recruitment wrapped up FSU nails down yet another talented pass rusher, and they add to a 2023 class that looks like it will be one of the nation’s best next year. What the coaching staff has been able to do at defensive end the past three cycles is tremendous, as the pass rushing issues for the Noles have come to an end.
We will have a lot more on Green’s decision later today as we will be speaking to the family and breaking down what Green will bring to FSU.
