Defensive analyst hired by Colorado State

It certainly didn’t take long for Mike Norvell’s off-field staff members to begin to get looks for on-field jobs. Defensive analyst Mike Treier, who recently arrived in Tallahassee to coach the Seminoles, has been hired by Colorado State to coach safeties. The Rams are elevating him to a full-time assistant coach role, so this leap, despite the timing, is a good opportunity for Treier.

Treier has a good relationship with Colorado State defensive coordinator Chuck Heater. He and Treier worked together at Marshall for a few seasons, when Heater was the defensive coordinator for the Thundering Herd.

This is the second analyst that has been hired away from Florida State this offseason. Another defensive analyst, Stanford Samuels Jr, was recently elevated to an on-field role by Willie Taggart at Florida Atlantic.

Treier’s relationship with Adam Fuller and his recruiting roots in the state of Florida were expected to be assets to the program, instead, the staff will already be looking for his replacement.
