Five-star shooting guard cancels visit to Florida State

A source close to the Florida State men’s basketball team confirmed to NoleGameday that five-star shooting guard Anthony Edwards has canceled his visit to Tallahassee this weekend. Edwards was supposed to be in town to watch the Seminoles take on Louisville prior to announcing his commitment on Monday, Feb. 11.

The Atlanta native also canceled visits to North Carolina and Kansas earlier this week. FSU was thought of the favorite when Edwards announced his decision date but that’s no longer the case following his cancellation.

Though our source did say the five-star shooting guard silently committed to the ‘Noles coaching staff in December, we expect him to wind up at Georgia. Sometimes “extenuating circumstances” just win out on the recruiting trail.

Florida State currently has the No. 13 class in the 2019 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports. The Seminoles have signed four players, including top-100 prospects Patrick Williams and Balsa Koprivica, and have another committed who should sign later this spring.

UPDATE 2/11:

Five-star guard Anthony Edwards will announce his decision between FSU, Georgia, and Kentucky today at 9 a.m. eastern time.

Our source still expects Anthony Edwards to commit to Georgia after his canceled his visit over the weekend.
