Former FSU commit plans to sign with Florida Atlantic

Former Florida State offensive guard commit Alex Atcavage learned in December that the Seminoles couldn’t guarantee him a spot in the 2020 class with the transition from Willie Taggart to Mike Norvell. Atcavage was forced to reopen his recruitment less than two months prior to National Signing Day but it looks like he’s found a home.

The New Jersey native was offered by Florida Atlantic in January and he’ll continue his career under the head coach he originally planned to play for in college. Atcavage has committed to the Owls.

The 6-foot-5, 290-pound prospect pledged to FSU back in the summer and visited Tallahassee multiple times throughout the year. Since decommiting, Atcavage has officially visited Old Dominion and Florida Atlantic. His commitment comes on the heels of a trip to Boca Raton over the weekend.

He joins an FAU class that currently holds eight signees, six verbal commits, and five transfers. The Owls’ class ranks No. 93 in the country but the five transfers, which include former ‘Noles D’Marcus Adams and Malcolm Lamar, do not factor into the rankings.

Atcavage is ranked as the No. 1828 overall prospect, the No. 117 OG, and the No. 243 player in the State of Florida by the 247Sports Composite ratings.
