Former Heisman winner working out at FSU

Former Florida State star, 2013 National Champion, and Heisman winner Jameis Winston was back in Tallahassee today to work out on campus. A source close to Winston who was in attendance was able to provide NoleGameday with a few details.

The source said that current Seminoles Alex Hornibrook and Cam McDonald were in attendance to watch the workout. However, they weren’t allowed to participate in any way due to NCAA rules. Winston spent the majority of his time working with three receivers from Tampa Bay’s practice squad and two coaches, who the source assumed were either from the Bucs or other NFL guys.

The Alabama native typically makes his way back to Florida State to get a work out in during the spring or summer prior to NFL training camp. Winston will need to be at his peak in 2019 as he enters a contract year coupled with a new coach and offense in Tampa Bay. He completed a career-high 64.6% of his passes for 2,992 yards with 19 touchdowns to 14 interceptions in 2018.

UPDATE 7/19/19:

Winston held another workout on Florida State’s campus on Friday morning and some more current ‘Noles were in attendance. Quarterback James Blackman and linebacker Amari Gainer both got a chance to watch the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signal-caller go through his regiment while McDonald was there for the second straight day. Winston spent most of the workout doing agility drills and working with a trainer from MDF Nation.
