FSU lands talented edge rusher from the boot

Nothing like an unexpected commit on a Thursday morning. New Orleans high 3-star defensive end Byron Turner took to Twitter to announce his commitment to Florida State.

Turner was only recently offered by Florida State, collecting an offer on June 29th, but it didn’t take long for the Boot state product to pull the trigger.

“I was excited when I got off the phone with Coach Norvell,” Turner said. “I ran through the house playing the war chant with my Dad.”

Turner attends St Augustine high school, which ironically is the school that FSU running backs coach David Johnson was the head coach at before making the move to college football. This, coupled with the fact that he and his father grew up Florida State fans (as evident by the childhood photo in his commitment post) seems to have made the decision easy.

“I committed to FSU because talking to Coach JP, Coach Fuller, and Coach Norvell, I realized FSU was the best fit for me. I felt that it gives me the best opportunities.”

Turner also had offers from Texas A&M, Florida, Oklahoma, and Texas among others. His commitment now takes FSU’s class to #21 in the country. Stayed tuned to NoleGameday for all of your FSU athletics news.
