FSU QB commitment Luke Altmyer heading to the Elite 11

Florida State quarterback commitment Luke Altmyer received some great news Thursday afternoon when he received an invite to the prestigious Elite 11 QB Camp. We spoke to him Thursday evening to talk about getting the invite and to talk about his goals when he’s there next week.

Luke Altmyer committed to Florida State as a little known quarterback from Mississippi. As we head into the summer Altmyer is emerging as one of the nation’s very best signal-callers for the 2021 class. Thursday he received news that he received another honor as he will be attending the Elite 11 Camp in Nashville, TN.

“I was disappointed that I wasn’t a part of the first group of twenty, but it is what it is,” said Altmyer. “I got a call this afternoon that a guy wasn’t going to be able to make it and that I had an opportunity to fill the spot.”

Luke attended the Underclassman Camp almost two weeks ago with a goal of getting an invite to the UnderArmour All-American game. He achieved that goal with flying colors, and now he’s heading to the Elite 11 looking to come out the winner.

“My goal is to win the whole thing,” said Altmyer. “It’s the only reason to go. The guy who won it last year wasn’t invited initially and was a late add-on. Being last in doesn’t mean I can’t win it. There’s going to be a whole lot to learn which I am excited about. There’s been a whole fraternity of quarterbacks that have attended that camp. There’s good value in going there.”

While Luke’s profile has grown nationally more programs have thrown their hat in the race. FSU fans took notice when Alabama offered June 1st. As he heads into the Elite 11 Camp and into the rest of summer Altmyer remains firmly committed to the Seminoles.

“I know some fans were nervous about them offering but I am super strong with my commitment to FSU,” said Altmyer. “I’m taking everything with this day by day and following where God wants me. I think I can be super successful and that I will grow as a human being at FSU that’s why I committed to them. I think God wants me in Tallahassee.”

We will have more with Luke after next week’s Elite 11 camp.
