Jacoby Jackson Excited About FSU Offer

Florida State is taking its time evaluating and breaking down offensive tackle recruits for the 2021 class. One of the players that has emerged on their board is Arlington, TX standout Jacoby Jackson. We caught up with Jackson to talk about his interest in FSU and to discuss his evolving recruitment.

Football fans that follow recruiting really like to look at positional ratings and stars. The offensive line is one of the hardest positions to evaluate. When looking at recruits that play in the trenches it is better to look at the offers that recruit has collected. Jacoby Jackson, a composite 3-star, is one of those recruits whose offers speak differently from the rankings. With 35 offers in hand, Jackson has seen interest from programs from all over the country.

“I have 35 offers so recruiting is going great,” said Jackson. “A lot of schools have expressed their interest in me and I am enjoying the process. There’s been a lot of texts, calls, and FaceTime with us not being able to take visits. I had visits to Cal, Baylor, FSU, Ole Miss and Mississippi State lined up before all of this started.”

Jackson says that FSU has been working hard recruiting him and that they took their time offering him.

“The main reason FSU didn’t offer sooner was because they hadn’t seen me in person,” said Jackson. I hear from them a lot. Coach Atkins is a good guy and we have a good relationship. I feel like he is a great coach I can relate to. Coach Thomsen is my primary recruiter and he has been telling me about their interest in me. I had already met Coach Thomsen when he was at TCU. We have that previous relationship and it has been the same since he came over.”

Jacoby says that the offer from FSU is a big offer for him and that the Seminoles will play a big role in his recruitment.

“They’re high on the list and it is a very big offer,” explained Jackson. “FSU is a school I have always watched. It is really exciting. I know that they had the coaching change, but I feel the new coaches are going to turn things around, and that FSU will get back with this staff.”

“I like the history of the program,” Jackson continued. “I know they are working on getting back to their old selves. It would be nice going to school in Florida and it would be a good thing to be a part of.”

Some programs are recruiting Jacoby as a guard, but he thinks he’s made to play either tackle position in college.

“Some schools think I am a guard but I think I am a tackle,” said Jackson. “I play both right and left (tackle). I am an athletic, big guy that can move. I like to finish blocks, that is the number one thing with me. I want to get a lot of pancakes.”

The 6’6”, 320-pound tackle says that he’s in the early stages of his recruitment and that right now he is looking forward to being able to take visits.

“There are a few schools that are recruiting me hard like FSU, Texas, Baylor, Cal, Utah, Ole Miss and Mississippi State,” explained Jackson. “There are a lot of schools I have a good bond with that I’d like to visit. I am not sure when but that is the next step. I want to go through the process, and I want to sign in December. I want to get my degree and get a good education, and I want to go somewhere that will develop my skills.”

We will continue to track Jackson’s recruitment and upcoming senior season.
