Jakiah Leftwich Planning a Return Visit to FSU in March

The state of Georgia is becoming a major focus for the new staff at Florida State. One of the best linemen in the Peach State is Atlanta-Westlake offensive tackle Jakiah Leftwich. With nearly 20 offers and schools reaching out daily Leftwich’s recruitment is on the rise. We caught up with him to get the latest developments and to see what’s up with his interest in the Seminoles.

Florida State’s Junior Day was attended by one of the south’s best linemen in Jakiah Leftwich. He says the visit still resonates and it looks like FSU has put themselves in a good position to be a contender in his recruitment coming off of the visit.

“My initial contact with FSU was with Coach Norvell through twitter,” Leftwich said. “I started communicating with him and then the offensive line coach Coach Atkins. We’ve built a great relationship and they offered soon after. It has been amazing developing the relationship with them.”

“Coach Atkins is a funny guy and he has a lot of knowledge,” Leftwich continued. “He’s young, and he’s a great coach. We get along (well). The Junior Day visit was great. The facilities, the academics – they were all great things. It was my first visit there. I liked and was surprised by the chemistry the coaching staff has. Coach Atkins has been telling me they need linemen and that I could come in and help the program. He recently reached out to wish me a happy birthday. Our talks are more about life and family and we talk about every day.”

Jakiah says that he has 17 offers right now and that his hard work over the years has led to it all paying off.

“I have 17 (offers) and I am trying to find the best fit for me,” said the standout tackle. “I knew it was going to come because of all of the hard work I have put in. October 2019 was when I got my first offer which was from Georgia Tech. Texas A&M and Georgia are two schools that haven’t offered yet. Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Auburn, FSU and South Carolina are some of my offers.”

Leftwich has a busy spring and summer planned as he is lining up visits before he makes a decision this summer.

“In March I am taking some visits,” Leftwich explained. “FSU is one, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Georgia, and Alabama, too. All of these programs that have offered are kind of the same and are great.”

“I am going to be committing this summer so I can get it out of the way and just focus on ball,” said the 6-foot-6, 302-pound tackle. “I’m looking for playing time, a great atmosphere, a family feel and academics. I’m probably going to major in sports medicine.”

Stay tuned as we track Jakiah’s spring visits and his impending simmer decision.
