JUCO OL Anthony Belton Has Caught the Attention of FSU

Georgia Military College offensive lineman Anthony Belton earned an offer from TCU last week. Since then he’s seen his recruitment pick up steam as five programs have offered and several are showing interest. The hometown school Florida State is one of the schools showing interest in Anthony, so we caught up with him to talk about his building recruitment and relationship with FSU.

On June 11th TCU offered 6’6”, 320-pound lineman Anthony Belton. On Monday alone Anthony earned four more offers from FAU, South Carolina, Alcorn State and UAB.

“My recruitment has picked up a lot since the big offer from TCU came in,” said Belton. “South Carolina just offered but they weren’t rushing into anything. Rutgers and FSU have been talking to me, too. I have been talking to Rutgers for a while.”

Belton is born and raised in Tallahassee so getting a chance to stay home to play college is something that he would like to do.

“I’m born and raised in Tallahassee so FSU is a dream offer,” said Belton. “Being the hometown team I grew up watching them. FSU is a school I always wanted to go to. Getting an offer would mean a lot and it would be an opportunity of a lifetime because my family is there.”

Anthony ended up at Georgia Military College due to academics. He knows he missed an opportunity before so he isn’t wasting this chance as he prepares to graduate early next year.

“I didn’t apply myself so I was a non-qualifier,” said Belton. “I’m at JUCO now and I am set to graduate in February. There is a chance I could graduate in December and I am doing what I can for that to happen.”

Anthony is new to the recruiting process but an offer from the Seminoles would hold a lot of weight.

“I am still new to this whole process and I want to see how it plays out, but staying home to play in college would be huge,” said Belton. “I was at the FSU vs Florida game my senior year and that atmosphere just got me. It was crazy. I’ve been in contact with the assistant offensive line coach at FSU and we talked on the phone yesterday. They want to see more of me on the field to see how much I’ve grown as a player. I know they need linemen and I’ve talked to them about how I could help out.”

There are three offers that stand out for him right now.

“TCU stands out because they have wanted me for a while,” said Belton. “FAU is up there because I have known Coach Woodie for a long time. They have a great staff and are like family. UAB is there because they’ve been a factor for a while.”

Comfort and a feeling like being at home are what Anthony is looking for. Stay tuned as we track his pursuit for the program that matches these desired attributes best.
