Luke Altmyer Journal Entry 3: All-American Invite, Recruiting and the Elite 11

Journal Entry 1

Journal Entry 2

In this installment of Luke Altmyer’s recruiting journal, he catches us up on his thoughts on what’s been an active month, from earning an invitation to the UnderArmour All-American game to participating in the Elite 11 QB camp earlier this week.

How’s everyone doing? It has been a busy month for me. I earned an invite to the UnderArmour All-American game. Earning that invite is amazing because I grew up watching that game and I’ve always wanted to be a part of it. It’s pretty cool knowing I get to play in it.

At that camp, I got to work some with Destyn Pazon, the wide receiver from Louisiana. I know FSU is recruiting him really hard. We talked ball and FSU while at the UA camp. He’s bigger than I thought. His playmaking ability is some of the best I’ve seen in high school. He’s also an A+ kid. I think FSU is looking positive for him!

We’ve been busy on the recruiting trail this past month. It’s good to know we have another offensive lineman committed, especially a kid like Bryson (Estes). He is a great kid and a great player. Koby (Gross) being a real physical tight end is something that will go well with Jackson West. The new defensive back commitment, (Kevin) Knowles, is going to be nasty with him and Travis Hunter on the field. Jordan Eubanks is another dog. We have more coming that are unknown at the moment.

I know there’s been some talk about my speed and a supposed lack of athleticism. At the camp where I earned the All-American game invite I ran a 4.71 40. What do rushing yards matter? I’ve always known my abilities and I know that I can run the ball when needed. In my high school system, my coach wants me to be protected. I will surprise you with my speed.

The Elite 11 was incredible. Obviously it wasn’t what it usually is with COVID-19, but the staff adapted and improved as we went along and they did the best they could possibly do. I was around like-minded individuals who could sling the rock. I got a lot of good competing in. If you ask me, I’m not all the way pleased with my performance but I think I did pretty well.

Now I am taking things day by day. I’m waiting for some rules about the season to come out and I’m back to working out with my team.

Thanks for the support and I’ll talk to ya’ll soon.
