Mfiondu Kabengele signs with Octagon Agency

After announcing his decision to declare for the 2019 NBA Draft just over a week ago, former Florida State forward Mfiondu Kabengele has signed with Octagon Agency to start off his professional career. Octagon Agency is one of the top sports and entertainment companies in the world, focusing on sports marketing, sponsor, and athlete and talent representation. Kabengele will be represented by an agency that boasts NBA clients such as Giannis Antetokounmpo, Stephen Curry, Trae Young, Dennis Schroder, and Wesley Mathews, among others.

The Canada native has been projected to go everywhere from the late First-Round to undrafted in recent mock drafts. Kabengele is currently ranked as the No. 30 prospect in the 2019 draft by ESPN. He’ll have plenty of time to raise his stock with predraft workouts and the combine coming up in May. The draft will be held on Thursday, June 20. Kabengele averaged a career-high 13.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 50.2% from the field, 36.9% from deep, and 76.1% from the line in 2018-19.

Florida State will lose at least six players this offseason with the graduations of Terance Mann, Phil Cofer, Christ Koumadje, PJ Savoy, and David Nichols coupled with Kabengele’s departure to the NBA. The Seminoles have signed four players in the 2019 class and have one committed. They recently filled the available scholarship left by Kabengele’s departure with JUCO guard RayQuan Evans (yeah, similar to RaiQuan) but will probably have at least one more scholarship to give out before the offseason is over. That attrition could come from a transfer or releasing one of the current signees from their letter of intent. It will all shake itself out soon enough.
