Naheem McLeod Not on Roster

Naheem McCleod is not on the FSU Basketball roster anymore, per Wayne McGahee of the Tallahassee Democrat. We speculated about this in our Newcomers Season Prediction article, which you can read by clicking HERE.

According to an FSU spokesman, McLeod “did not meet the NCAA requirements for enrollment.” He has been on campus since early in the summer, but can no longer practice or participate in any team activities.

McLeod, listed at 7’3″ and 230 pounds, was a 3-star recruit out of Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania. His ineligibility leaves Florida State with graduate transfer Dominik Olejniczak and freshman Balsa Koprivica as the lone true center options, although Malik Osborne and RaiQuan Gray could slide down in a pinch.

Since he is no longer on the roster, he does not count towards FSU’s scholarship count until he is eligible, which can be next semester, next year, or he can be recruited again so he might not be back with the Seminoles. If he does not decide to return, FSU has an extra scholarship to use next season, and they are after some big fish, like 5-stars Jalen Green and Scottie Barnes. They currently only have one commitment for the 2020 class, JUCO wing Sardaar Calhoun.
