NoleGameday Staff Score Predictions: FSU @ Florida

After 11 games, we’re finally here. Florida State at Florida in a primetime matchup on the SEC Network. As of now, the Gators currently sit as 17.5 point favorites but as anyone knows that’s watched this rivalry over the years, anything can happen in a game filled with so much emotion. Interim head coach Odell Haggins comes into this contest with a 4-0 record and he’s looking to improve to 5-Odell by the time Saturday night comes to a close.

Beating Florida, however, will be no easy task. The Gators don’t really have an offensive player that stands out, which might be the scariest thing about them. Three different rushers have three or more touchdowns and five different receivers have accumulated 300+ yards on the season, with all five having multiple scores as well. Basically, multiple guys can step up and produce on any given day.

The Gators also have one of the best defenses in the nation, headlined by a really versatile group of linebackers. Four of UF’s top five leading tacklers are linebackers, led by senior David Reese, who has compiled 82 total tackles and two sacks so far in 2019.

In two games with offensive coordinator Kendal Briles having complete direction of the offense, Florida State has averaged 43.5 points, 331.5 passing yards, and 193 rushing yards per contest. The team has looked a lot more comfortable on that side of the ball in Briles’ control. Defensively, the hope is Harlon Barnett might finally earn his contract with a masterful gameplan against Florida, though the odds seem extremely unfavorable.

Our staff gives their score predictions for Florida State’s final regular-season game below.

Unfortunately, I’m going with my head and not my heart this week, to secure the best record of the NoleGameday Staff. Florida’s defense will be the key to what could turn into an ugly game. I’m predicting at least two players to be ejected due to targeting penalties.

No one really stands out on the Gators offense to me but they should be able to muster enough points against the Seminoles’ porous defense to secure their second straight win in a closer than expected rivalry game.

We’ll get em next year.

Odell’s potential promotion is on the line so he’ll have these guys ready to go. That being said, we still aren’t good. I expect Florida to beat us pretty handily, sadly.

I just don’t see any way where things work out in FSU’s favor this weekend. I think this is going to be an ugly end to an ugly era in Florida State football. The good news is we will have a new coach in the very near future as we look to bring in what will hopefully be a much better era in Tallahassee.

Florida State’s offensive line will not be able to contain UF’s pass rush at all. It will be a long night in Gainesville as Odell’s undefeated streak ends at 4.
