‘Noles extend offer to 2021 quarterback

Florida State has extended a plethora of new offers during its first junior day of the offseason but one of them stands out. The Seminoles offered 2021 three-star quarterback Luke Altmyer on Saturday afternoon. He becomes the first 2021 signal-caller that head coach Mike Norvell has offered while at FSU.

Norvell already has a solid relationship with Altmyer, who he recruited heavily during his time at Memphis. Altmyer was offered by the Tigers in June 2018.

Along with Florida State, the Starkville native holds offers from LSU, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State, among others. The ‘Noles are firmly in the middle of his recruitment after his junior day visit to Tallahassee.

Altmyer shows off excellent ball-placement on his throws, with the ability to fit passes into tiny windows. He has very good footwork and a quick release. Really good at not honing in on his first option, shows he can read the field and spread out the ball. Altmyer keeps his eyes downfield in the wake of pressure and is able to deliver on the run. He’s not much of a scrambler but has enough athleticism to evade defenders in the pocket.

As a junior, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound quarterback completed 67.1% of his passes for 3,093 yards with 37 touchdowns to just five interceptions. He also added three scores on the ground. Altmyer only completed less than 60% of his passes twice in 15 games during 2019-20.
