SOURCE: Multiple FSU donors threaten to cut off funding if stadium is renamed

Over the last couple of weeks, social media and multiple online petitions have shed light on the history of former Florida State President Doak Campbell, who made multiple efforts to resist integration. Fans are calling for the Seminoles’ stadium to be renamed and there’s certainly a lot of public pressure. President John Thrasher released a statement on Monday stating that he had asked Athletics Director David Coburn to review the issue and make recommendations.

In the wake of the name of Doak Campbell Stadium potentially being altered, a source has told NoleGameday that multiple FSU boosters, some high-level, are threatening to cut off funding to the university if the name is changed. Heading into a season where attendance and profits will likely dip due to the Coronavirus, this is a precarious situation for the administration to work its way through, especially with Willie Taggart’s costly buyout on the books.
