TE Erin Outley Planning Spring Break Visit to FSU

Earlier this month Florida State extended an offer to tight end Erin Outley, a recruit Coach Norvell became familiar with during his time at Memphis. We caught up with Erin to talk about his recruitment and to talk about his interest in the Seminoles.

Little Rock, AR tight end Erin Outley is a recruit who saw his recruitment start after his freshman year at Parkview Magnet. Now that the 3-star recruit is a rising senior he is realizing that the hard work over the past 3 years is paying off as his recruitment is picking up.

“Schools have been talking to me since the end of my 9th-grade year,” Outley said. “My coach told me then if I worked hard I’d be a D1 prospect. Tennessee State just offered, that is my latest. I think FSU was my 8th offer. It’s crazy and a blessing that these schools noticed my talent and have offered.”

Coach Norvell had started recruiting Erin when he was the coach at Memphis so there is some familiarity and a relationship there now that he is at FSU.

“Coach Norvell and Coach Dillngham the offensive coordinator at who I’ve kept in contact with at FSU,” Outley said. “When Norvell was at Memphis I visited for a game and I camped there. I think he is a great coach that built something at Memphis and I think he’ll do the same at FSU. I like how he shows love for the tight end in his offense. The tight end plays a big role in his offense.”

One of the reasons that FSU coaches have targeted Erin early on in the 2021 process is because he is a tight end with the ability to play in any kind of offense.

“I am versatile, I can play H-back, split out, line up with my hand in the ground and block which makes it hard for the defense,” Outley said. “That’s what Coach Norvell does with his tight ends. They like how I can blend into their offense. I want to play in a balanced offense that can attack with the running game but also can throw the ball well.”

Home state program Arkansas is the only program Outley has visited. He plans on visiting a few schools during spring break, FSU being one of them.

“I want to visit FSU and South Carolina during my spring break,” Outley said. “The only school I’ve been to is Arkansas. Home is where the heart is but I want to visit schools and see what is best for me.”

It is very early in the process for Erin and he plans on taking his time, making all of his visits, and deciding in February. Stay tuned as we track his recruitment and upcoming visit to FSU in March.
