Terance Mann appears in latest NBA Mock Draft

Former Florida State guard Terance Mann is moving onto the next step in his career, the NBA. Early in the season, the senior wasn’t getting a ton of love from draft analysts, probably because of his iffy outside shot. However, Mann began to show signs of a jump-shot as the year went on and in his final season as a Seminole, he shot a whopping 39% (30/77) from deep. Those improvements coupled with his inside game, stout defense, and leadership have pushed him into Second-Round consideration.

Last week, the Massachusetts native showed up on NBADraft.net’s mock draft at No. 56 overall to the New York Knicks. In an update released earlier today, Mann is moving up the boards and reuniting with an old friend in the process. The latest mock draft projects Mann to get drafted by the Charlotte Hornets at No. 49 where he and Dwayne Bacon would team up again. I think FSU fans would call that outcome a success all around if it holds true in June.

Mann still has the NBA Draft Combine (May 15-19) and private workouts to impress NBA teams. It seems like he could go anywhere in the back half of the draft as that’s where seniors are typically selected. In fact, this mock draft has ZERO seniors being selected in the First-Round and 12 in the Second-Round.

The 6-foot-6, 215-pound guard has skills that could be utilized by a variety of teams. He’s an excellent defender and prides himself on that end of the floor. On offense, he’s patient enough to pick his spots and smart enough to know when to look for scoring opportunities. Mann is a willing passer and he has a top of the line basketball IQ. He’s also a winner, leaving Florida State with 95 wins over four seasons or an average of 23.8 wins per year. Mann is the type of player that front offices like to bring in to try and change the culture of their franchises. While he’ll most likely never be a star in the NBA, the intangibles and qualities of being a great teammate that he expresses could rub off in a big way on the team that takes a chance on him.
